A Framework for the Investigation of Rare Genetic Disorders in Neuropsychiatry
A group of the most well known and respected scientists across the world have documented their perspectives on the importance of understanding rare genetic disorders in a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders, including autism. They point out that better understanding of genetic disorders associated with ASD and NDDs will expand model systems and help clinicians better understand the spectrum of autism symptoms. By focusing on the commonalities across these disorders, scientists will more effectively develop meaningful interventions for all people with ASD, regardless of their known genetic makeup.
